Privacy Policy

Beacon is operated by Simpson Family Ventures LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what Beacon collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
Who this covers
This policy covers counselors, coaches, and other practitioners who create a Beacon account and use the service. If you are a client of one of those practitioners, Beacon does not knowingly collect information about you, and we ask our users not to put client-identifying information into Beacon.
What we collect
Your account. Your email address and an encrypted password, handled by our authentication provider. We never see your password in readable form.
Your intake answers. Beacon asks you a series of questions about your practice and your work. You may answer by speaking or by typing. If you speak, the recording is sent to a transcription service, converted to text, and the text is what we keep. These answers are the most personal material in Beacon: they include why you do this work and what you find hard about it. We store them because they are the source of everything Beacon writes in your voice.
Your practice information. Your practice name, location, website address, how you prefer clients to contact you, and your service offerings.
Your website's public content. Beacon reads publicly available pages on the website you give us, to understand your services and to check the site's technical health. We only read what any visitor could read.
Your brand material. Any logo, photographs, colors, and fonts you upload or that we detect from your website.
What Beacon creates for you. Blog posts, Google Business Profile posts, social posts, service pages, podcast materials, and the strategy behind them, plus the review notes explaining why something did or did not pass Beacon's quality checks.
Your corrections. When you edit something Beacon wrote, we keep the before and after text and who made the change. This is how Beacon learns your preferences over time.
Search and performance data, if you connect it. If you connect Google Search Console, Google Analytics, or your Google Business Profile, we read the data those services provide about your website and listing. See the Google section below, which is specific.
Operational records. How much Beacon's AI processing costs per job, what succeeded and failed, and when. We use this to run and price the service.
Google user data, specifically
If you connect a Google account, this section governs that data.
What we access. Only the specific permissions you approve on Google's consent screen. For Search Console, the search performance data for the property you select. For Analytics, the traffic data for the property you select. For Business Profile, the profile you manage, so Beacon can publish posts you have approved.
How we use it. Solely to provide Beacon's features to you: choosing what topics to write about, reporting how your website is performing, and publishing content you approved.
How we store it. Access tokens are stored encrypted on our servers and are never sent to your browser. The data we read is stored in your account's records.
What we never do. We do not sell Google user data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not use it to train any AI model. We do not transfer it to others except the service providers listed below who process it on our behalf in order to run Beacon.
Revoking access. You can disconnect at any time from Beacon's settings, or directly from your Google account's security settings, and we will stop accessing that data.
Beacon's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who else processes your information
Beacon uses these providers to operate. Each receives only what it needs.
- Supabase and Lovable, for hosting, the database, authentication, and file storage.
- Anthropic, to generate and review written content.
- OpenAI, to transcribe your spoken intake answers and to generate images.
- Google (Gemini), to generate images.
- DataForSEO, to look up search keyword data and to scan your website's technical health.
- Templated, to render branded graphics.
- Resend, to send you email.
We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.
How your information is used to train AI
Beacon does not train any AI model on your data. Your content is used only to instruct our AI providers, in the moment, to write and check content in your voice for you: what you send becomes part of that one request, not training material. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google process what we send through their business APIs under their own terms, and none of them train their models on data submitted through those APIs.
This is different from what "training an AI model" usually means. Training permanently changes a model's internals using large collections of examples. Instructing a model, which is what happens every time Beacon generates something for you, gives it your information as context for a single response and changes nothing about the model itself. See "The Lessons Loop" below for exactly how Beacon uses your corrections this way.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. If you close your account, tell us and we will delete your data, other than records we must keep for tax or legal reasons. You can ask for a copy of your data at any time.
The Lessons Loop
When you edit something Beacon wrote, or approve a revised version over the first draft, Beacon looks at what changed and may write down a short, general note about your preference, for example, "keep intro paragraphs to two sentences." That note is stored as text in your own account, alongside your other Beacon data.
From then on, each time Beacon generates something new for you, it includes your saved notes as part of the instructions it sends the AI provider for that one request, the same way it includes your Voice Profile and practice details. The AI provider reads the note and follows it for that response. Nothing about the underlying AI model changes, and no other Beacon account ever sees your notes. This is instructing the AI with your stored preferences, not training a model: the note lives in your account and can be edited or deleted like any other of your data, not baked permanently into anything.
Security
Access to your data is restricted at the database level so that your records are visible only to your account and, where necessary to support you, to Beacon's administrator. Credentials for outside services are stored on our servers, never in your browser. No system is perfect, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects your data.
Cookies and tracking
Beacon does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts of any kind. No data about your visit is sold or shared for advertising, because none is collected for that purpose in the first place.
Beacon uses a small number of strictly functional cookies and browser storage entries: one to keep you signed in, one to remember whether you left the navigation sidebar open or closed, and a couple that hold an in-progress, unsaved edit in your browser only until you submit it or close the tab. None of these identify you to anyone outside Beacon or follow you to other websites.
Your choices
You can view and correct your information in the app, disconnect any connected service, ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and its contents. Write to coachryansimpson@gmail.com.
